Student FAQs

Are the conferences really cost-free for students to attend?

Yes! The support of participating employers allows us to cover the cost of airfare, lodging, and conference participation for all student attendees.  Each year we select a diverse and impressive class of high-achievers, and all admitted students travel, stay, and attend at our expense. 

Note that there is a $90 admission fee upon acceptance, which can be waived in cases of financial hardship. If you need assistance, let us know when you apply. You can also reach out to your school’s Campus Ambassador, O4U alumni, or request sponsorship from your university.

I have questions about conference or career fair logistics. Whom do I contact?

We will be sending out conference information a few weeks before each conference. If you have any questions, connect with the admissions director of the conference you’re attending. A directory of admissions directors can be found on the Our team page.

Do I have to be “out” to attend?

Students who are not out or who are selectively out are more than welcome at our conferences. Creating a safe, inclusive space and respecting the privacy of all students are our top priorities. If you need assistance making this conference work for you, please let us know when you apply.

I’m an international student or I’m studying abroad. Can I still attend?

Yes, but the scholarship funds allocated for air travel are limited. The student is responsible for their own visa, if required. If additional nights of lodging and meals are required due to length of travel, O4U does not fund these additional costs. 

I’m a DACA student. Can I still attend?

Yes. Each student is responsible for communicating with potential employers about their status and ability to work in the United States.

When is payment due?

O4U sponsorship payments are due in full prior to the start of the conference, and are non-refundable.
